ROUND & ROUND AGAIN
Vintage linens & doilies dyed with avocado seeds, tea bags, onion skins, coffee; beads, hand dyed embroidery floss
I had such fun dyeing these pieces with food items. No chemicals. No recipes. Playing with the various pieces I noticed the range of transparencies and patterns when I layered them. I saw the how the various experiences, people & places where I’ve lived as being distinct but impacting all that happened after. I have a vivid memory of going into a bar alone after my first husband told me, he was in love with someone else.
Grumbling to the guy next to me, he said “Maybe it’s the best thing that’s happened to you.” I was furious then, but now I know he was right. All the wonderful things I’ve experienced since would not have happened had I not moved on to a new life.
